Project Leader for Scar Stories Inc.
Approximately 1 day per week
Volunteer with the opportunity to establish own income
Are you looking for a career in project and event management in a rewarding position that offers freedom and an opportunity to give back to the community? Scar Stories Inc. is a registered Australian charity that raises awareness; funds; and runs support programs for 18-35 year olds with cancer. We are looking for an energetic, self-driven all-rounder to take over the management of this youthful and progressive charity for a 12-month maternity contract with the opportunity to extend and grow the position into permanency.
Fighting cancer as a young adult (18-35yrs) presents unique challenges - physical, emotional, social and psychological. Due to insufficient funding and research and a lack of awareness, these needs are not being met globally and many of our young adults face great challenges coming to terms with their post-cancer bodies.
From one-on-one photo shoots and skateboard art to rocking their scars alongside rock stars, Scar Stories uses music, art and photography to achieve its mission to support young adults with cancer and help them "rock their scars".
The ideal candidate will be based in Brisbane, QLD however the reach of the role is nation-wide so applications are open to candidates from across Australia. The role is a mix of client relations (both face to face and via telecommunication) and behind the scenes operations. As Project Leader you would be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the charity including the tasks outlined in the attached Position Description. Although the role will begin as a volunteer position, there is an opportunity for the right candidate to establish an income based on the organisation’s budget and projected generated income.
